Dual Citizenship

The Embassy provides general guidance on resumption or retention of Sri Lankan citizenship under the Citizenship Act. The final decision rests with the Department of Immigration & Emigration, Sri Lanka.

Resumption — for a person whose citizenship ceased on acquiring another nationality; 
Retention — for a citizen intending to acquire another nationality while retaining Sri Lankan citizenship.
